Good News!

I knew Mike and I were due for some good news.  As some may remember, Mike had heart surgery February 2010.  During that surgery his Mitral Valve was repaired.  During that time, the surgeon planned on repairing his aorta as well, however, it took too long to repair his Mitral Valve so the surgeon was unable to do that.  So, every year we go to the doctor for an echo cardiogram and an EKG hoping, praying, and crossing our fingers that everything is normal and he doesn't need surgery again.

Backtracking a little, Mike sees a children's cardiologist.  He goes there because this doctor is an expert on Marfan's Syndrome.  Recently he advised Mike go see an adult cardiologist because, well, he is an adult.  However, we went and saw a lady that his current doctor recommended, and I was less than thrilled to say the least.  She didn't read Mike's full chart, hadn't reviewed any current tests, and overall had hardly any information on his history and out situation and then she immediately started talking about heart surgery for Mike's aorta.  It scared the bejeebus out of us and caused a lot of unneeded stress.  We were able to make a call to his children's cardiologist who reassured us a little and ask us to come back to him.

So we did. And it was wonderful.  His doctor is really good about reassuring us, calming our nerves, and explaining this in a way that we both understand.  I'm so glad we went back to him.  Mike had his annual echo cardiogram and EKG which confirmed that Mike does NOT need heart surgery any time in the near future.  It was a breath of fresh air.  We NEEDED this good news.  We needed something positive to happen in our lives after our loss. THANK YOU LORD!
