2011- 4th of July

Long time no post!  It's been a while since I've blogged so I thought I would come back with a yummy post!  Tonight we had people over to celebrate 4th of July.  Only a few people came compared to how many said they were coming, but the food was great.

For appetizers, we had my tortilla roll ups and a 7 layer dip.

Then, for our main course we had Sirloin kabobs and chicken kabobs, with sides as a delicious Roasted Potatoes and Green Bean Salad and Root Beer Baked Beans.

And finally, for dessert we had Independence day cupcakes, Cake Truffles made by Cake Truffles by Lauren and Strawberry Pretzel Salad (with my own 4th of July decorations).

Everything was absolutely delicious!

Wedding Anniversary Recap

One of the things about hubby that made me fall in love with him, is his thoughtfulness.  For most things, he is able to put a lot of thought in to gifts and celebrations and it always gets to me.  I love it.  So, traditionally, your second year anniversary gift should be cotton.  For me, I found this very difficult and it didn't go at all with what I was getting hubby.  For hubby- he scored major points!!  He set up the breakfast table.  That would be a towel animal- an elephant, cotton hair turban, cotton slippers, body butter, bath soap, and cotton bath gloves.  As well as a gift card to Salon Ciao Bella!  In case you didn't catch it- he got me stuff I needed to have a spa day at home as well as a get away spa day!

This is a very sweet poem with cotton balls in a heart shape.

That would be fresh cotton body soap.

I love the thought that he put in to everything!!  For hubby's cotton gift- I got him a silly t-shirt. For the real gift I made him go on a scavenger hunt.  I put little pink notes taped to his favorite little debbie's snacks and put them throughout the house. The first one was in his gift bag with his shirt.  Then, he had to look in the pantry.

Then he had to go look in the china cabinet.

Then he had to search the laundry room.

Then he went to the treadmill.

Then he had to go up stairs to the spare bedroom- also known as hopefully a soon to be nursery!

Then he went in the other bedroom to find his gift!

With hubby's marfan syndrome, a tredmill and running is hard on his knee and joints.  When he was in physical therapy, he would ride a bike a lot and get a good exercise in and not be sore.  So, every since then, he has been wanting a bike for us to ride.  Personally, I have never been a huge fan of bikes but I need exercise and if this is how we can exercise together, so be it.  I'm super excited and I think hubby was too!  Let's just say, finding a reasonably priced bike for a man that is 6' 5" is not an easy task!

We ended the evening by having dinner at McCormick & Schmicks.  It was really good.  On a scale of 1-10, I would probably give it a 6 or 7 for the overall experience, food, and price.  Plus, who can pass up Smores Creme Brulee?!?!

Happy 2nd Anniversary Hubby!  I had a great day, thanks to you!

Happy 2nd Wedding Anniversary to me!

Time for the traditional anniversary post!  Two years ago today, we decorated Reunion Ranch to make it fix our theme, and our colors, and making sure everything was just perfect for us!

I started shaking as I had to walk out the door with both my dad's to meet my groom at the end of the aisle.

We said our vows, exhanged rings, and made a committment to spend the rest of our lives together.

We walked down the aisle as newlyweds as our family cheered us on as husband and wife (and as the wind allowed my veil to consume my face!)

We danced our first dance as a married couple.

We threw the garter and bouquet to the lucky guests- our dear friend and my youngest little brother. :)

We ate cake and fed each other... nicely!

We remembered those who weren't able to attend our wedding- my maternal grandmother, my paternal great-grandparents, and my dear paternal grandfather that passed away the week before our wedding.

And then we danced away with some of the best friends we could ask for and our amazing family!!

Happy 2nd Wedding Anniversary Hubby!!  It has been the longest, hardest, most exciting, fun, and best two years of my life!  I can't wait to see what our 3rd year has to bring!!

80th Birthday!

Hubby's paternal grandmother turned 80 in February!!  His cousin's planned a beautiful surprise party for her and we drove all the way to Pampa (in the snow!!) to go see her.  What a glorious life she has lived thus far!!

Family Photos

The last time my parents took professional family photos was when Chilton was barely 2 years old.  Chilton is now 16 years old! The last photos we took were in a studio with Olan Mills!  Annnnd, if you are keeping track, I have another brother who is now 12.  Which means, we never took professional photos as a family after he was born!!  So, this January, we took family photos for the first time, including my dear husband.  Here are a few of my favorites!  All photos courtesy of Scenes of Serendipity.
